Dear reader: This was a particularly difficult piece to write because it is the most painful and personal loss I have ever experienced—the death of my late wife, Pepper.
I love reading your story. Besides being beautifully written, funny, and emotionally charged, it’s an amazing testament to your love for Pepper. Can’t wait for the book!!
I’ve never experienced a cavalcade of emotions like I did while reading this. Your life has been so rich and impactful, it’s truly extraordinary. Thank you for sharing all the things, and especially for being brutally honest and sugar coating none of it. It’s truly a gift to hear your story.
I love all the comments. I hope whatever it is, my stories evoke some kind of feeling in each reader. And as I said, I now have a new favorite word and all it means.
I cannot imagine the tons of memories that writing this brings back to you!?! Pepper weaved her way bits here & there into my life since standing next to her in basketball team tryouts at Hoover in November 1979 and reading about Pepper’s life my own at each juncture is like discovering a reflection of my own complex experiences, showing how her journey has shaped really globally the universe like the butterfly effect?! I found the word:
